Four reasons New Zealand websites lose enquiries.

Each one is common, measurable and fixable. Here is what goes wrong, and exactly what we do about it.

01The problem

Phone visitors give up before they enquire

A buyer comparing three builders on a phone will not wait for a slow page or hunt for the quote button. They tap back and choose one of the other two.

How we fix it

Fast pages, designed for the phone first

  • Mobile layouts designed before desktop ones
  • Core Web Vitals targets agreed in the contract and tested at launch
  • One clear next step on every page: book, ring or ask for a quote
02The problem

Buyers can't find you in search or in AI answers

Kiwis still start on Google, but more of them now read an AI summary before the results, or ask a chatbot outright. If your details are thin or inconsistent, those answers name a competitor instead.

44% of New Zealand adults used AI built into search engines, such as Google AI Overviews, in 2025; 42% used chatbots like ChatGPT Source: InternetNZ, Aotearoa Internet Insights 2025, via Figure.NZ
How we fix it

Get found on Google, Maps and AI search

  • SEO for the services and towns your customers search
  • Google Business Profile and local pages for every area you work in
  • Structured content and business details that AI tools can quote correctly
03The problem

Traffic turns up, but enquiries don't

Visitors leave when the page cannot answer their question, the form asks too much, or a reply takes days. Each leak costs you work you have already paid to attract.

How we fix it

Turn visits into enquiries and bookings

  • Pages that answer price, process and proof before doubt creeps in
  • Short forms with a separate, unticked marketing opt-in
  • Instant alerts and auto-replies so every lead hears back quickly
04The problem

Privacy and spam rules now reach your lead forms

Since 1 May 2026, IPP3A means people must be told when you collect their details from someone else. Add the anti-spam law and accessibility duties, and a careless form or a bought list becomes a real risk.

How we fix it

Privacy, consent and accessibility built in

  • Every lead source mapped, with IPP3A notices wherever they apply
  • Unticked opt-ins and logged consent for the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act
  • Tested to WCAG 2.2 AA with keyboard and screen reader before launch

Straight answers

Questions New Zealand businesses ask.

How much does a website cost in New Zealand?

With us, a site of up to five pages starts at NZ$450, an online store at NZ$950, and a bespoke 6 to 15 page site usually comes to NZ$850 to NZ$1,050. For comparison, Kiwi Web Design's July 2026 guide puts a 5 to 8 page small business site at $2,500 to $6,000 excluding GST. Use the calculator for your scope, and we confirm a fixed price in New Zealand dollars, in writing.

What is included in the price?

Every site includes mobile-first design, accessibility tested to WCAG 2.2 AA (the guidelines behind the government's Web Accessibility Standard 1.2), Core Web Vitals targets in the contract, a privacy statement and lead capture set up for the Privacy Act 2020 and IPP3A, consent-ready sign-up forms under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act, GA4 and conversion tracking, and on-page SEO. You own all of it. Copywriting, extra languages and booking features are priced in the calculator.

What does IPP3A mean for our website and leads?

If you collect personal information from anyone other than the person, such as a referral partner, a lead list or a co-hosted event, IPP3A has required you to tell them since 1 May 2026. We map every lead source during scoping, write the notices, and build the notification step into your forms and CRM imports.

Do we need permission to email people who enquire through our site?

For marketing messages, yes. The Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 requires consent, clear sender details and an unsubscribe honoured within five working days. We keep the marketing opt-in separate from the enquiry itself, unticked by default, and record when and where it was given.

Does the government accessibility standard apply to private businesses?

Web Accessibility Standard 1.2 applies to government agencies and the suppliers building for them. Private firms are not bound by it directly, but the Human Rights Act 1993 covers the private sector, and WCAG 2.2 is the benchmark the government standard uses. We build every site to WCAG 2.2 AA.

Will our new site keep its Google rankings?

That is the aim from day one. With 89.02% of New Zealand searches on Google, we audit the old site, redirect every URL that earns visits or links, carry across the content that ranks, and monitor Search Console closely for a month after launch. We also structure your details so AI assistants describe you accurately.

Can you work with New Zealand clients without an office here?

Yes. We have no office in New Zealand and do not pretend otherwise. Projects run remotely, with a named strategist, a shared board and a staging site you can click through every week.
