Sound familiar?

Four reasons Hong Kong websites lose customers.

Each one is common, measurable and fixable. Here is what goes wrong, and exactly what we do about it.

01The problem

Your website is hard work on a phone

Hong Kong buyers look you up on their phones, often on the move. Slow pages, tiny text or a Chinese version with broken line breaks send them back to the results, and a competitor gets the enquiry.

How we fix it

A fast, phone-first site in both languages

  • Phone-first design in English and Traditional Chinese, each with its own typography
  • Core Web Vitals targets written into the contract
  • A clear next step on every page: enquire, book or tap to call
02The problem

Buyers search and find a competitor first

Hong Kong buyers search in English and in Chinese. If you are missing from Google's first page, Google Maps or AI answers in either language, they shortlist the firms that are there.

How we fix it

Get found in English and Chinese search

  • Keyword research done separately for English and Traditional Chinese
  • Google Business Profile and local SEO for each district you serve
  • Google Ads measured on enquiries rather than clicks
03The problem

Visits come in, but enquiries stall

A buyer who cannot find proof, a sense of cost or a clear next step on the first screen rarely fills in a long form. One who waits days for an answer has usually signed with someone else.

How we fix it

More of your visitors become enquiries

  • Proof, partners and track record placed where doubt appears
  • Short bilingual forms that qualify without putting people off
  • Automatic replies and lead alerts, so every enquiry is answered fast
04The problem

A data breach is a growing risk

Your enquiry forms, bookings and analytics all collect personal data covered by Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Reported breaches are rising, and hacking is behind about a third of them.

246 data breaches reported to Hong Kong's privacy commissioner in 2025, up 21% on 2024 Source: RTHK, February 2026
How we fix it

Privacy and accessibility built in, at no extra cost

  • Forms that collect only what you need, with a clear collection notice
  • Submissions stored with providers you know, plus a written data map
  • Tested to WCAG 2.2 AA in English and Traditional Chinese
The Hong Kong market

Dense, bilingual and finance-led.

Hong Kong's Companies Register listed 1,621,154 local companies in August 2026, for a population of 7,518,300. That is more than one registered company for every five residents, so almost anything you sell has dozens of registered alternatives a short MTR ride away.

We build Hong Kong sites to make the shortlist in both languages: a first screen that states your offer clearly, proof before the form, and Traditional Chinese written for readers here rather than converted from another script. If you plan to apply for BUD Fund support, we provide the scoped quotation you need to check eligibility.

Straight answers

Questions Hong Kong businesses ask.

How much does a website cost in Hong Kong?

With us, a site of up to five pages starts at HK$2,500 and an online store at HK$5,000; a bespoke 6 to 15 page website usually runs from HK$4,500 to HK$5,500. YSD's August 2026 guide puts template-based corporate sites at HK$8,000 to 30,000, custom corporate sites at HK$30,000 to 80,000 or more and e-commerce at HK$35,000 to 150,000 or more. Use the calculator for your scope; we confirm a fixed price in Hong Kong dollars, in writing.

What is included in the price?

Included as standard: mobile-first design, accessibility tested to WCAG 2.2 AA, Core Web Vitals targets in the contract, GA4 and conversion tracking, and on-page SEO foundations. Forms and data flows are designed with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance in mind, so your adviser can review them quickly, and you own the domain, code and content. A Traditional Chinese version, copywriting and features such as online booking are priced in the calculator.

Can the BUD Fund or another scheme pay for our website?

Possibly, but check eligibility before you count on it. From 15 June 2026, Easy BUD allows up to HK$150,000 per application, covers 48 economies and gives targeted support to AI projects. The Technology Voucher Programme closed to new applications after 31 December 2024. We give you a scoped, itemised quotation to check against the fund's rules, and we never describe a website as fundable.

Should our Hong Kong site be in English and Traditional Chinese?

In most cases, yes. Chinese and English are both official languages in Hong Kong, and buyers notice when one version is thin. We plan both from the first wireframe, write Chinese copy for Hong Kong readers and research search terms in each language separately.

Does the PDPO apply to our website?

Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, Cap. 486, governs personal data, and your enquiry forms, bookings and analytics all collect it. We do not give legal advice on the ordinance, but we design forms and data flows so your adviser can review them quickly.

We run a restaurant or shop. Is the DTSPP relevant to us?

It may be. The DTSPP offers 1:1 matching of up to HK$50,000 for SMEs in F&B, retail, tourism and personal services, and 8,799 SMEs had been approved by February 2026. Check whether your business and project qualify; we provide a clear, scoped quote to support that check.

Can you build for a Cyberport or Science Park startup?

Yes. Hong Kong recorded 5,221 startups in InvestHK's 2025 survey, with fintech the top sector. We launch a focused product site quickly, with demo booking and investor pages, and keep it light enough to change as your product does.
